Day 5. Medusa’s Lament

I am the loveliest of beasts A beauty so divine Gaze into my seadeep eyes I’ll forever make you mine

I’ll lure you with my crimson lips

Beguile you with my smiles

I’ll fascinate and captivate -

I’ll enslave you with my wiles

But, alas, my charms will fade away

as my hair begins to writhe,

For I am cursed to petrify

All those who behold my eyes.

I find no bliss nor happiness

In this, my tragic curse

For I only want to babysit

Or become an infant’s nurse

But every time I croon a tune

Or rock a babe to sleep

They sweetly gaze into my eyes

And turn to stone, complete

So here I wander, all alone

In this infant cemetery

Where cherubs pose and angels moan

Among darling statuary
